Electors of Mirani draws to the attention of the House that 2017 Tropical Cyclone Debbie decimated rivers and waterways throughout the Mirani electorate leaving landowners unable to rehabilitate and rectify damage to creeks and waterways after the natural disaster.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to, in the lead up to storm season, work with local government areas to reinstate Mackay and Isaac Regional Council local government areas to mitigate the risks, protect water security, restore natural resilience to flooding and cyclones in rivers and their catchments, repair and prevent damage to rivers and catchments and implement planning measures to improve protection, health and resilience of rivers and their catchments.
