The petition of citizens of Queensland draws to the attention of the House Baringa State Primary School opened its doors in January 2018. It currently caters for Prep – Year 6 and is Queensland’s first Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) School of Excellence. The Department of Education anticipates the opening date for Baringa State High School will be 2021. Therefore students graduating in 2018 and 2019 will most likely have to attend the at-capacity Meridan College before relocating to the new high school. This will cause severe disruption to the students learning journey and home-life.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to fast-track the construction and opening of Baringa State High School (Caloundra South High School) for the 2020 school year.
