Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House the extreme 24-hour-a-day noise stemming from the Pacific Motorway (M1) at Reedy Creek. This noise causes significant discomfort for residents living alongside the M1, particularly the 250 residents of Royston Heights Apartments at 30 Gemvale Road. Invariably, the noise level causes residents to lose sleep, close doors and windows even on hot summer days, move inside to have basic conversations and raise television volumes.

Your petitioners therefore request the House to, as part of the planned Mudgeeraba to Varsity Lakes (M2VL) Ml upgrade, erect a noise barrier adjacent to 30 Gemvale Road, Reedy Creek to mitigate the level of noise pollution impacting Royston Heights residents directly caused by traffic on the M1 and made worse by peak hour traffic on Gemvale Road.
