Queensland citizens draws to the attention of the House that there are serious systemic problems within Fraser Coast Regional Council and the Council is failing to discharge its legislative responsibilities. The issues are acknowledged in an email dated 16 March 2016 from the Fraser Coast Regional Council CEO Ms Lisa Desmond to her senior managers, the email being referred to in a report titled 'Fraser Coast Regional Council - State intervention under the Local Government Act 2009, 31 October 2016' tabled by the Deputy Premier in the Legislative Assembly on 2 November 2016.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to take all action possible to ensure that Deputy Premier & Minister for Local Government, the Honourable Jackie Trad MP, immediately exercise her ministerial powers under s.113 of the Local Government Act 2009 to direct 'remedial action' be taken within the Fraser Coast Regional Council.  Specifically, that under the circumstances the Deputy Premier rely on s.120 to bypass the giving of notice and s.113 to direct the council remove the CEO effective immediately.
