TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

The petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House the urgent need to upgrade the pedestrian crossing at the intersection of Birkdale Road and Main Road, Wellington Point, for safety reasons.

With increased population density, traffic volumes and growing use of this commercial precinct the pedestrian crossing has become significantly dangerous rendering the current design inadequate.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to provide the necessary upgrade, as a matter of urgency, to the pedestrian crossing at Birkdale Road and Main Road to ensure the safety of pedestrians and motorists.
