The petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House the need to preserve the gun emplacements and other significant structures built for front line defence to protect Brisbane during WWII in the Pumicestone Region of Bribie Island. The petitioner also seeks signage to outline the historical importance of Bribie Island in war times, with the support from Bribie Island RSL Sub Branch, Vietnam Veterans Bribie Island, Lions Association, Bribie Island Historical Society and Rotary Club. The ever increasing erosion of our beaches have caused these historical structures to receive significant structural damage, and resulting in the loss of some structures already.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to take urgent action to fund the provision of these much needed services for the prevention of further erosion causing structural damage and preventing further encroachment from the sea with a view for a possible restoration project at some time in the future.
