TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

Queensland Residents draws to the attention of the House:

that the Retirement Village Industry is in dire need of a complete overhaul and that the Scheme Operators demands for profit have been addressed with little thought for the needs and rights of the Residents or without any acknowledgement of the facts that the residents with their entry contributions paid for the establishment of their village.

The review of the Retirement Village Act 1999 which started in 2012 has stalled and as yet none of the recommendations have resulted in much required changes in the Act.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to restart, with the utmost priority, the review of the Retirement Village Act 1999 that at present is still at a standstill.
