TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House that the Queensland Government's comprehensive research into daylight saving in Queensland in 2007 indicated that the majority of Queenslanders now support the introduction of daylight saving in Queensland. The research indicated 59% support, 31% opposition and 10% undecided. The 1992 referendum showed 48% opposition, 40% support and 11% did not vote. It is therefore very clear that there has been a significant change in the preference of Queenslanders since the referendum with the majority now supporting the introduction of daylight saving in Queensland.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to recognise the preference of the majority of Queenslanders for the introduction of daylight saving in Queensland and to hold another referendum on introducing daylight saving in Queensland.
