TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland
This petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House the decision by the Palaszczuk Government to close the Garners Beach Cassowary Rehabilitation Centre, placing the vulnerable cassowary at further risk and shifting pressure onto local veterinarians and volunteer wildlife carers.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to instruct the Palaszczuk Government to reinstate financial support and allocate sufficient QPWS Rangers to the Garners Beach Cassowary Rehabilitation Centre, to ensure sick and injured cassowaries and orphaned chicks are cared for by trained and properly resourced professionals.
