TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

The petition of residents of Queensland draws to the attention of the House the draft planning scheme released by the Moreton Bay Regional Council for public consultation and the numerous issues and concerns raised by Moreton Bay Regional Council residents. The State Government has approved in-principal that the Moreton Bay Regional Council be allowed to make significant amendments to the draft planning scheme.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to direct the Newman Government to require the Moreton Bay Regional Council to release the new draft planning scheme to the public and undertake wide ranging and proper consultation with all affected residents and the broader community and businesses for a minimum of six weeks to ensure that residents of the Moreton Bay Regional Council have their say on the future of their local community.
