TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

The petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House the need for preventative action against riverine flooding in North Rockhampton. Preventative action such as floods valves will stop 400 properties from being inundated with water during time of flood.

Professional advice received identifies that this preventative action can be easily implemented and will have no adverse effects to other community members or businesses.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to allocate funding for Stage 1: North Rockhampton Flood Mitigation project of $1,000,000. Council will allocate $100,000 to the project and this would proceed promptly if funding could be allocated by the State.
