TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House that the former Labor Government commissioned and constructed a 20 bed community care unit in Redland Bay to provide care for Queenslanders recovering from mental illness. Unfortunately the facility was not opened as planned and the Minister for Health, the Honourable Lawrence Springborg MP, has not taken the necessary actions ensure this facility can be managed by the Metro South Hospital and Health Service.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to condemn the Newman LNP Government for their failure at not supporting the Redland Bay community by making operational a mental health facility that the Queensland taxpayers have already funded and call on the Newman LNP Government to immediately open the Redland Bay community care unit.
