TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

Queensland Residents draws to the attention of the House the proposed decision of the Newman LNP Government, as gazetted on the 10 May 2013, to close the historic Fortitude Valley State School.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to call on the Newman LNP Government to reverse the decision of the proposed closure and sale of the historic Fortitude Valley State School and redirect their focus to the rapid continued growth of the school, its surrounding community and the educational needs of inner-city children. Closing this school will negatively impact the community as a whole, effecting student stability and their academic achievement.
