TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House the Newman LNP Government's change to the model used to calculate staffing resources for Queensland State schools.  The new model, which was introduced by the Newman LNP Government, does not allow for rounding up, which has resulted in many schools across the State losing frontline teaching staff, even though in some instances enrolment figures have increased.  The LNP has also cut resources teachers in high schools. These changes will have a dramatic effect on teacher/student ratios, affecting class sizes and student learning.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to call on the Minister for Education, Training and Employment to immediately reinstate the model previously used to calculate staffing resources for Queensland State schools.
