TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

The petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House the need for the Newman Government to reverse its decision to close facilities at Brighton's Eventide Nursing Home and Zillmere's Ashworth House. These facilities have a long history of providing services and support to the elderly and their families on Brisbane's northside.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House that if it fails to listen to the community and continues with its plans to close these facilities, your petitioners ask that it will rule out selling the land to developers for purposes such as high-rise units.
