TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House the proposal by the Newman Government to place an annual $400 cap on the Taxi Subsidy Scheme from July 2013.

The Taxi Subsidy Scheme is a vital program that allows thousands of Queenslanders with a disability to live more independently; contribute to the Queensland economy through work; and be more involved in the Queensland community.

We recognise that a panel has recently been established to review the Taxi Subsidy Scheme and we encourage the panel to consider this petition when developing its final recommendations.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to immediately withdraw the proposal to cap the current taxi subsidy at $400 per year per recipient from July 2013 and reject any similar changes that would limit access to the Taxi Subsidy Scheme.
