Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House that current legislation in respect of sentencing for crimes involving wilful damage and offences against property and the person are inconsistent with and below community expectations.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to, in the interest of community safety, call on the Queensland Government  to increase the number of Police on the beat and length of sentences in all relevant Acts and introduce mandatory minimum sentencing where required to ensure perpetrators of such crimes receive sentences in line with community expectations.
