The petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws the attention of the House to their concerns with the negative environmental and social impacts of the proposed Boral Gold Coast Hard Rock Quarry of 219 hectares at Tallebudgera Valley and surrounding areas. Residents chose to live in this beautiful area to enjoy the benefits of a quiet, scenic, rural lifestyle. The quarry will operate 12 hours a day, 6 days a week for 40 years.
Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to stop the construction of this quarry by refusal of the application under the State Development and Public Works Act 1971 to preserve this area for future generations.
