TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland
The petition of citizens of Queensland draws to the attention of the House that children under the age of 16 are able to obtain body piercings without parental permission. Your petitioners therefore request the House consider amendments to current legislation prohibiting body piercings of children under the age of 18 without parental permission, including the introduction of a requirement that children under 12 years of age can receive outer-ear only piercings and a requirement for parental consent for all piercings for children aged 12 to 18.
