Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House the consequences of the decision to transfer established paediatric services from the Royal Children’s Hospital to the proposed Queensland Children’s Hospital in South Brisbane. The closure of world class Royal Children’s Hospital, which is co-located with the state’s leading Women’s Hospital, will result in a significant reduction in paediatric services than is currently provided and is not in the best interests of sick children and their families. Your petitioners therefore request the House to protect and enhance current clinical, research and support facilities at the Royal Children’s Hospital and consider more carefully the Queensland Government’s decision to close the Royal Children’s Hospital.
