The petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House the decision the Wide Bay TAFE to cease offering the Cert 1 course in Art and a Cert 1 course in Drama which have been highly popular and well enrolled by students who a disability in the Gympie region. Your petitioners therefore request the House to request this Government to reconsider the decision to cease offering these courses and to enable those students currently enrolled to complete the course in 2009. We also ask that the Government engage in community consultation to determine what courses should be offered in the future to make maximum use of the campus facilities for those students with a disability.
