This petition of the residents of Queensland draws to the attention of the House the current crisis involving frail and aged Queenslanders who are forced to spend long periods in hospital beds awaiting placement in an appropriate facility and the practice of transferring them away from family and community support. Your petitioners therefore request the House direct Queensland Health to open the additional eight beds in the revamped west wing of Mareeba Hospital and provide appropriate additional staff and resources to better meet the needs of these Far North Queenslanders.
