TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland
The petition of citizens of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House their long standing dissatisfaction with the National Trust Queensland's management of the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary and their wish that: • The Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary (CWS) including its Coolamon properties bestowed on the people of Queensland by Alex Griffith as a gift to be managed by the National Trust Queensland under the terms of that gift be separated from the National Trust Queensland. • The Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary once separated to be operated and effectively managed as a Statutory Body who will hold title to the land and Company limited by guarantee who will undertake the management of the sanctuary. • All property purchased with monies produced and profits made by the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary remain the property of the CWS and no money or assets of CWS be paid to NTQ as consideration for or as compensation for the separation. Your petitioners therefore request the House to immediately intervene and separate the operation, management and control of the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary from the National Trust Queensland and its CWS Advisory Committee.
