TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland
The petition of electors of the Division of Beaudesert Shire draws to the attention of the House the need for an hourly bus service from Beaudesert to Browns Plains on a daily week-day basis to enable members of the communities to access necessary services including training facilities, health facilities and commercial retail outlets, as well accessing opportunities for employment. social and recreational activities. Many residents in the Shire are experiencing physical, psychosocial and emotional problems due to their social and geographical isolation. Access to an adequate public transport system would assist in alleviating these negative effects. Your petitioners therefore request the House to approve the introduction of a Translink funded hourly bus service from Beaudesert to Browns Plains to enable residents to connect with the extensive public transport systems available to people living in the metropolitan areas.
