TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland
The Petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House that Paul Townend, the jockey of the horse Gold Dancer that won the Grand National in the United Kingdom, whipped the horse to the finish line where he was put to death.
Your petitioners believe that horse racing is nothing more than animal cruelty as demonstrated at the Grand National.
Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to ban horse racing throughout Queensland.
