The Petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House to the recent appointment of Peter Dutton to the Queensland Investment Corporation. This is a Queensland owned corporation, an Australian investment manager delivering infrastructure, real estate, liquid markets, private equity and private debt solutions for institutional partners here and overseas.

Nepotism is the practice among those with power or influence of favouring relatives, friends, or associates, especially by giving them jobs.

Your petitioners do not believe that former politicians that are usually voted out of office or party heavyweights should be appointed to well-paid government jobs or positions.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to pass laws to ensure all former politicians and political party heavyweights are not appointed to any sort of position in government owned and run facilities or entities.
