E-Petition

The Petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House that requiring vehicles to come to a complete stop is almost always of no safety significance but collectively it wastes a significant amount of fuel or electrical energy. Petrol, Diesel and LPG powered vehicles all use more fuel coming to a complete stop then going again for no increase in safety. Electric and Hybrid vehicles can store energy when slowing down but cannot store energy to come to a complete stop. These vehicles have to use energy to come to a complete stop so replacing Stop signs with Give way signs reduces electricity usage as well as fuel usage. Some additional traffic accidents are caused by smaller vehicles running into the back of larger vehicles that prevent the driver of the smaller vehicle seeing the stop sign and so do not expect the larger vehicle to completely stop when they can see there is no other traffic.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to replace Stop Signs with Give Way Signs in Queensland.
