TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland
The Petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House the fact that cars are allowed to park and fully obstruct bicycle lanes, inconveniencing the bicycle operators significantly. The state of New South Wales has already banned this, meaning that we are lagging behind.
Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to prohibit the parking of vehicles in any marked bikeways in the state of Queensland, except in cases of legitimate use, e.g taxi passenger dropping/collecting.
