The Petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House there should be mandatory cat desexing of any cat or kitten from a breeder, rescue or shelter before giving away or selling any cat or kitten. This will curb the cat breeding cycle if a cat has run away or been dumped.
Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to develop a registry of cat breeders and laws enforcing all cats to be desexed unless they are from a breeder with a license. Breeders failing to comply should be banned from owning cats. Your petitioners further request that costs for desexing a cat be discounted for a period of time to allow for all existing cats to be desexed.
