4435-26 Training/jobs and recognition for people diagnosed with Autism
Eligibility - Citizens of Queensland20 Langura Crescent
FERNY HILLS QLD 4055
The Petition of citizens of Queensland draws to the attention of the House that people diagnosed with Autism should be given skills and help to be integrated into meaningful jobs that make them feel valued. Too many individuals with high functioning autism (especially males) face significant, yet sometimes hidden, challenges with social interaction etc. Your petitioners are asking for change to give their lives some meaning to go on.
Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to do all within its power to create state initiatives that support employers in making workplaces more inclusive and accessible, specifically targeting the hiring and retention of autistic adults; and ensure mandatory, specialised autism training for frontline professionals in health, education, and the criminal justice system to improve understanding of neurodiverse presentations.
