The Petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House the following.
- Prohibit walking dogs during extreme heat conditions, particularly during peak daytime temperatures in summer.
- Recognise hot pavement and environmental heat as a form of preventable harm.
- Treat repeated or severe breaches as animal cruelty offences.
- Introduce fines or penalties to ensure compliance and protect animal welfare.
- Support public education around safe dog exercise during hot weather.
Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to introduce legislation or enforceable regulations to ensure animal safety during extreme heat conditions.
