The Petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House the issue of vehicle hooning in residential areas around regional towns of Queensland. Hervey Bay is a particular concern with vehicles and motor bikes revving loud exhaust noises up and down the esplanade while locals and tourist alike are out enjoying dinner at local cafes and restaurants. This type of inconsiderate behaviour is not called for in our local community.

Residents of Hervey Bay are also subjected to similar nuisance noises at all hours of the day on our roads around town with seemingly no care from our local law enforcement.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to put in place further action for culprits that are deliberately making a nuisance of themselves with loud exhausts on their vehicles in order to disturb the peace of the town. We would like to see Operation Sombrero reopened and a hooning blitz activated again in Hervey Bay to bring peace back to our community.
