4406-26 Widening of the Centenary Highway Springfield to Ripley
Eligibility - Residents of the State of Queensland6 Tennessee Place
SPRINGFIELD QLD 4300
The Petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House the urgent need of the widening of the Centenary Highway through Springfield to Ripley, as the highway is no longer adequate for the region’s rapid population growth. Springfield and its surrounding suburbs—Ripley, Ripley South, Deebing Heights, White Rock, and Redbank Plains—are expanding at 8–12% annually, yet this key corridor remains a single lane road. This outdated configuration has led to persistent congestion, longer travel times, and daily frustration for commuters. More concerning are the multiple head on collisions that have occurred along this stretch, resulting in tragic loss of life and highlighting serious, long standing safety issues. Infrastructure delivery has clearly fallen behind the pace of development.
Residents deserve a reliable highway that improves safety, reduces unnecessary delays, and supports the continued economic growth of the region.
Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to review the current Springfield to Ripley section of the Centenary Highway, and look at widening the Centenary Highway to at least two lanes in each direction to support current demand, accommodate future growth, and provide a safer, more efficient transport route.
