E-Petition

The Petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House the need for public servants to act in the interests of the public.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to create the following: Establishment of a Public Service Charter Affirming Accountability to the Public.

• Establish a Public Service Charter, or amend existing legislation and codes of conduct, to explicitly state that public servants serve the public above internal managerial interests.
• Embed this principle into leadership expectations, training, performance frameworks, and organisational culture.
• Strengthen protections for public servants who act ethically and in the public interest.
• Reaffirm the Queensland Public Service as an institution of public trust, integrity, and democratic accountability.

This petition does not seek to weaken governance or management. It seeks to restore clarity of purpose.
