TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland
The Petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House the increasing number of modified exhausts on cars and motorcycles.
A total ban on modified exhaust systems is necessary as the noise affects residents' peace, sleep, elderly people, shift workers, children with autism, people in palliative care, people who suffer misophonia and PTSD. It also creates a hostile environment for residents that are directly affected.
It appears the Police and Road Traffic Authority are unable to monitor and control repeat offenders.
Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to legislate a total ban on vehicle modified exhaust systems.
