4380-26 Protect the Baffle Creek Catchment
Eligibility - Residents of the State of QueenslandC/- Miriam Vale Post Office
MIRIAM VALE QLD 4677
The Petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House to disallow any renewable or other industrial development proposals from the head waters of this river system and through to the mouth of The Baffle Creek Catchment Queensland.
Any industrial project along this waterway will introduce into a pristine waterway and river system hazards that will destroy this ecosystem that flows to the Southern Great Barrier Reef, this is unacceptable.
Any project at the headwaters (creeks) that flow from Bororen and Miriam Vale will also affect the Miriam Vale township drinking water collection points, with any containments as well as other communities downstream. This will also affect livestock and native animal watering or drinking points, waterfowl and other marine animals along the Baffle Creek Catchment.
With three failed developments in Miriam Vale and Bororen in the recent two years both development companies have failed with taking into any real consideration ecology reports and waterflows and the effects of runoff from their projects would cause.
The Baffle Creek Catchment should be held up as a place of national importance and conserved as such as it has the White Throated Snapping Turtle in its waters and Squatter Pigeons along its banks as well as too great a number of endangered flora and fauna to list here.
Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to reject any development proposals for industrial sites in the Baffle Creek and head waters and protect this pristine water way at all costs.
