4362-25 Youth reoffenders with 3+ bail offenses upon arrest be directed to compulsory military service
Eligibility - Residents of the State of QueenslandPO Box 1668
Thuringowa Central QLD 4817
The Petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House the regular news reporting of stolen vehicles or seeing one burning on the side of the road. It is obvious people are beyond frustrated with youth crime and the lack of legal oversight, allowing these kids back on the streets to reoffend. Many offenders are already on bail for many different offences and proves the legal system cannot cope with punishing these offenders. We believe these reoffenders should be directed into compulsory military service for five years for the following reasons.
- The military would teach the offender discipline.
- The military would teach the offender a trade of the youth's choosing.
- Most trades take five years to complete, therefore, five years of military service.
- The youth would be providing a service to the country rather than being a detriment to the community.
- Depending on the age, no youth "military conscript" would serve the country overseas (18+ would be sent, under 18s would not).
- Avoids overloading our prison system.
- Provides a purpose and reason for reoffenders to behave and grow up.
Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to do all within its power to ensure youth criminals with more than three bail offences be directed into compulsory military service for five years.
