TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House, the urgent request for a new canteen at Pimpama State School. Pimpama State School has significantly outgrown its current aging canteen facilities, which was originally designed for 200 students but now serves 800. This fourfold increase in student population has rendered the existing canteen unfit for purpose.

The canteen’s narrow width severely limits food preparation activities, creating bottlenecks and inefficiencies.

The canteen cannot support additional electrical appliances without a complete rewire, compromising safety and functionality.

The canteen now prepares over 1,000 meals per week, far exceeding its original capacity.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to do all in its power to ensure construction of a larger canteen at Pimpama State School to ensure the continued provision of nutritious meals in a safe and efficient environment and that is adequate to meet the needs of the growing student body.
