Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House the need to establish a kindergarten on the grounds of Cedar Creek State School. Currently, there is no kindergarten available within the school’s catchment area, which significantly impacts the transition to school of our youngest students.

Without a local kindergarten, parents are forced to seek early childhood education outside the catchment area. This situation imposes considerable strain on families, particularly those with working parents who must travel up to a 30-kilometre round trip daily on narrow country roads to an alternative kindergarten. The additional travel time and distance not only disrupt daily routines but also create logistical challenges and safety concerns.

Having a kindergarten within the Cedar Creek State School grounds would provide a seamless transition for children as they move from early childhood education to formal schooling. It would foster a sense of community, reduce travel burdens, and enhance the overall educational experience for our children.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to do all in its power to ensure that a kindergarten is established on the grounds of the Cedar Creek State School which will benefit students, parents and the broader community.
