4110-24 Woongoolba State School – New Administration Building
Eligibility - Residents of the State of Queensland33 Holmstead Road
WOONGOOLBA QLD 4207
Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House the urgent need for the construction of a new administration building at Woongoolba State School. The current administration building, constructed in 1876, is not only outdated but also fails to meet modern accessibility standards. Its lack of disabled access means that students with physical disabilities are unable to visit the office independently, and young prep students must navigate dangerous stairs to seek first aid.
This year alone, the inadequacies of the building were highlighted when paramedics had to haul equipment upstairs to treat a student for a spider bite. Additionally, families with prams are forced to leave them downstairs, causing inconvenience and potential safety concerns.
Plans have been completed for a new, purpose-built administration building near the library. This new facility would provide necessary accessibility and appropriate office space for school leadership and administration, creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all students and families.
Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to do all in its power to ensure a new administration building is delivered to Woongoolba State School to continue serving the broader community effectively and safely, as a growing school community.
