Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House the urgent need for a school hall at Woongoolba State School. With an increase of 11% in enrolments over the past five years, the current undercover area can no longer accommodate community events. During the previous Christmas concert, the school had to set up on the internal closed-off school road, but inclement weather forced the event to be relocated to the open-air undercover area, leaving guests, families, elders, and students exposed to the rain and unable to enjoy the performances.

Woongoolba State School lacks an enclosed hall space large enough for family events, parades, concerts and other such gatherings. The colder climate in this region, influenced by nearby cane farms, makes an indoor hall even more essential. An enclosed hall would provide a suitable place for sports, community events, and school parades, benefiting the students and the broader community.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to do all in its power to ensure a school hall is provided at Woongoolba State School, which will serve as a community asset for years to come, accommodating the growing enrolments and enhancing the quality of school and community life.
