The Petition of the citizens of Queensland draws to the attention of the house the plight of Ingham Hospital and the struggle to maintain key medical staff: The resignation of both doctors at Ingham Hospital is a severe blow for the confidence of the district in the provision for adequate medical services. Competent and capable practitioners who are well-liked have made the unfortunate decision they are no longer prepared to continue their services in the local community. Losing these professionals at Ingham Hospital will severely affect the health care needs of the District and the core functions of the Hospital.

Your petitioners therefore request the House to investigate the failure of Queensland Health to retain Doctors on a long-term basis at Ingham Hospital, with a view to expeditiously rectifying identified problems and maintain at least the current level of service.
