Paper Petition

The petition of citizens of Queensland draws to the attention of the House, Queensland Racing have encouraged country race clubs to seek out additional sponsorship to improve prize money for country race meetings. The Moranbah community have worked hard to raise additional sponsorship funds to improve prize monies offered at a race meeting to be held on 28th August. Queensland Racing have now removed this additional sponsorship without prior consultation with the Moranbah Race Club. It was intended that this additional sponsorship would encourage a large number of trainers, owners and jockeys to be in attendance, thus ensuring a successful racing event.

Your petitioners hereby request the House to intervene on behalf of the Moranbah community and reinstate the added sponsorship to the Moranbah Race Club so it can continue to hold the scheduled race day with the increased prize purse as planned.
