The petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House the unfair dismissal of Capt John Takai by the Queensland Fire & Rescue Service (QF&RS) and the unfair discrimination by th~ QF&RS in not re-instating him to his original position as was recommended by the State Industrial Relations Commission and as was the case with the other seven Auxiliaries involved in the case. Considering that John Takai has l7 yrs experience as a fire-fighter and considerable local and cultural knowledge.

Your petitioners therefore request the House to reinstate Capt JohnTakai to Queensland Fire & Rescue Service, Thursday Island.
