The petition of electors of the Divisions of Townsville and Thuringowa draws to the attention of the House our objection to any legislation limiting or banning compound hunting bows or crossbows. Such legislation would have devastating effects on the sport of archery which provides many families with fun and sport together.

Your petitioners therefore request that no such legislation be passed. We believe that the existing archery organisations (clubs and businesses) in this region adhere to strict safety procedures and codes of practice as recognised by the worldwide archery fraternity. New and young archers are taught and modelled (by more experienced archers), responsible and safe use of the equipment.
