The Petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House the dangerous state of the silted-up bar at the mouth of Currumbin Creek. The boating public and Air Sea Rescue volunteers cannot get across the bar for the majority of the time. For as long as this situation is neglected there is risk of loss of human life and an increased likelihood of flooding to local resident's homes if hit by king-tides and heavy rains. The petitioners request the House to commit to dredging the bar at the mouth of the creek immediately and to continue to do so at regular intervals when the need arises in the future.
