TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House the practice of deliberately erasing biological parents’ names on birth certificates is ethically wrong and hurtful to a person because it is: 1. incorrect birth record; 2. disrespectful to deceased parent and their child; 3. misleading in family medical history; 4. misleading in family genealogy.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to review the practices of the Department of Communities and Disabilities, namely, the Adoption of Children Act of 1964 and the Adoption of Children Regulation 1999 to include the biological name of Mother and Father on all official birth certificates. Particularly in step parent adoptions where the natural parent is deceased.
