TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

The petition of citizens of Queensland draws the attention of the House to their objection to the intention of the State Government to implement the collection of the Queensland Ambulance levy by means of a supplemental charge as an addition to energy bills to the consumers of electricity in the State of Queensland. The undersigned residents believe that the method of collection is not equitable, unfair and discriminates against many Queenslanders who will be disadvantaged by having to pay in some case several times.

Your petitioners therefore request the House to request the Queensland State Government reverse its decision to collect the levy by this means and examine more equitable methods such as gaining access to the Medicare data bank for names and addresses of Queensland residents and directly bill these residents.
