Paper Petition

The petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House the difficulties being faced by farming families particularly exacerbated by financial institution policies. These circumstances create financial difficulties and has in many instances triggered foreclosure action by lending institutions. Such a process must be fair and transparent. However, there is evidence and experience that demonstrates that farming families are in a disadvantageous position when negotiating with financial institutions and the Farm Debt Mediation Bill in some measure provides a transparent process for both parties to adhere to.

Your petitioners therefore request the House to support the private member’s bill currently before the House.
