The petition of citizens of Queensland draws to the attention of the House to the recent major flood event in the Hinchinbrook Shire, North Queensland, has highlighted the need for certain infrastructure to be provided in the interests of public safety.
Your petitioners therefore request the House to call on the Queensland Government to allocate sufficient funding to the Hinchinbrook Shire Council for it to provide flood free access for vehicles and pedestrians over Palm Creek during a flood event and construct a dedicated emergency accommodation / evacuation centre in the township of Ingham.
